La Dentellière: ads that turn into tables

A restaurant in one of the most competitive parts of Barcelona, where hundreds of tables compete for the same passer-by. With small, carefully measured budgets, its ads bring in bookings.

The challenge

In the Gothic Quarter people decide in minutes, phone in hand. There are restaurants on every corner, and if you don’t show up at the right moment, you don’t exist. La Dentellière needed to be seen by people looking for somewhere to eat or celebrate nearby, without overspending.

We explain what happens in this area in more detail in restaurant marketing in the Gothic Quarter.

02

What we did

  • A Google Ads campaign for tourist searches that don’t name the restaurant, such as “paella Barcelona” or “restaurant Gothic Quarter”.
  • Short, focused Instagram and Facebook campaigns for dates that fill the room, like New Year’s Eve, and for the spring season.
  • A different goal for each campaign: bookings for one specific night on New Year’s Eve; visits to its profile and website in spring.
  • Photos and reels of their real dishes, so what you see in the ad is what reaches the table.
  • Small budgets in their own account, with every euro measured: people reached, clicks, visits and bookings.

What changed

Google Ads, September 2026: the ads were paused until 15 September and ran from the 16th to the 30th, 15 days. In total they cost 180.48 €, including 5.26 € of Spanish regulatory fees, and brought 343 visits to the website (clicks), according to the restaurant’s Google Ads account.

The tourist-search campaign cost 164.38 € with its share of the fees: 303 clicks at 0.53 € each and 17 confirmed bookings, about 9.67 € per booking. It also brought 46 direction requests, 6 WhatsApp messages and 2 calls. Bookings picked up over the period: 3 in the first week and 14 in the second (Google Ads account, 16 to 30 September 2026).

New Year’s Eve: with 45 € of Instagram and Facebook ads, the ad reached 7,293 people, got 229 clicks and brought 10 bookings in 9 days, about 4.50 € per booking (Meta ads results dashboard).

In that same campaign, 3.1% of the people who saw the ad clicked on it: 229 out of 7,293 (Meta ads results dashboard, same dates).

Spring: with 285 €, the campaign brought 522 visits at 0.55 € each (Meta ads results dashboard).

How to read these numbers

These are three specific campaigns, each with a small budget and one clear goal. We don’t promise the same numbers to every restaurant: every area, menu and date is different. What we do repeat is the method: start small, measure every euro and decide with data whether it’s worth carrying on.

05

How we set up a campaign like this

  • We pick a specific date or goal: a night to fill or a season to kick off.
  • We produce photos and reels of your real dishes for the ad.
  • We launch with a small budget, in your own account, so the data is yours.
  • We measure people reached, clicks, visits and bookings, and tell you about it without jargon.
  • If it works, we raise the budget; if not, we change it or stop it.

Questions about this case

Do you need a big budget to start? No. The campaigns in this case used small budgets. We prefer to start small, prove it brings bookings and grow from there; you raise the budget only if you want to grow faster, never because you have to.

Instagram or Google Ads? They do different jobs: social media builds desire and memory; Google Ads catches people already looking for somewhere to eat today and ready to book. Ideally you combine both.

Who owns the ad account? You do. We work in your own account and, if you ever stop, you keep the account and its full history. No lock-in.

Do prices include VAT? No. And the ad spend is separate: you pay it directly to the platform, so it’s always yours.

07

Which service this was

This was a Google Ads and Instagram and Facebook advertising project, with photos and reels we produced. Google Ads starts from 150 € a month plus 300 € setup (VAT excluded), and you pay the ad spend directly to Google. A photo shoot starts from 350 €.

08

What this means for your restaurant

Advertising isn’t money down the drain if you measure what matters: bookings, not likes. We start small, see what works, and only then grow. And we combine it with Google Ads when people search for you on Google.
