Clicks from Google doubled in a month: an SEO case study
Restaurante Santa Anna: a family restaurant in Barcelona since 1929, excellent cooking and a website Google barely showed. Here is what we did and what changed in the first month.
- 91online bookings in September 2026, for 303 people
- +138%daily clicks from Google (8.2 to 19.5)
- x3.6times Google quotes it in AI answers (10.9 to 39.5 a day)
- +31%people asking for directions on Google Maps (774 in September)
The restaurant’s own data. Bookings: resOS, its booking system, September 2026. Clicks: Search Console, old website (10 to 31 August 2026) against the new one (7 September to 20 October). AI answers: Search Console, first six weeks (7 September to 20 October). Directions: Google Business Profile, September 2026 against September 2025.
Where it started
The Santa Anna family has been cooking in Barcelona since 1929, and the food didn’t need changing. What was failing was everything before the table: an old website with no pages for what people search for, and a Google profile that didn’t show what the restaurant does best.
What the research showed us
Before touching anything, we compared the restaurant with the ones nearby and with what people search for on Google and ask AI tools. That’s where the gap appeared: lots of people were looking for somewhere to eat as a group, and its competitors weren’t answering those searches, neither on Google nor in AI answers.
In other words, people were searching for exactly what this restaurant does well, and nobody was answering them.
What we did
- A new 64-page website in four languages (Spanish, Catalan, English and French), launched on 1 September 2026.
- A page for each thing its customers search for: every rice dish on the menu, its neighbourhood and its group menus.
- The menu as text, so Google and AI tools can read it.
- A worked Google profile: categories, photos and descriptions aligned with the website.
What changed in a month
According to Search Console, clicks from Google more than doubled, from 8.2 a day on the old website (10 to 31 August 2026) to 19.5 on the new one (7 September to 20 October). They kept climbing week after week, from 9 a day in launch week to 22.1 in the week of 12 to 18 October (Search Console, daily average per week). Over the same two periods, impressions rose 44% and the click-through rate went from 2.3% to 3.8% (Search Console).
In its first month, 53 of the new pages were already showing on Google, several on page one: "paella barcelona" at position 6.4, "paella vegetariana barcelona" at 2.2, "paella near me" at 2.8 and "restaurante fideuá" at 1.3 (Search Console, as of 15 October 2026).
In the new website’s first six weeks (7 September to 20 October 2026), Google quoted it 3.6 times more often in its AI answers, from 10.9 to 39.5 times a day, and people arriving from ChatGPT booked twice as often as average (the restaurant’s October report, with Search Console and Google Analytics 4 data).
- Old website
- Launch week (1 Sep)
- New website
Google took about a week to process the new website.
Since mid-September clicks have held at around double the old level, and the last full week set the high: 22.1 a day.

Bookings and the Google profile
In September 2026 the restaurant received 91 online bookings, for 303 people: 72 through the new website (79%) and 19 through the “Book” button on its Google profile, which had brought none a year earlier (resOS, the restaurant’s booking system, and Google Business Profile). Phone bookings and walk-ins come on top.
The website had 636 visits in September, about 21 a day, against 7.7 a day on the old website (February to July 2026), almost three times as many (Google Analytics and the old website’s statistics). Of the people who arrived from ChatGPT, one in eight booked, twice the website average.
On the Google profile, September 2026 against September 2025: 63,253 views (+30%), 774 people asking for directions (+31%), 54 calls (+38%) and 259 website visits from the profile (+37%) (Google Business Profile).
And six times out of ten that the website showed up on Google, the person wasn’t searching for “Santa Anna” but for a dish or an area, such as “paella barcelona” or “fideuà barcelona”: people who didn’t know the restaurant yet (Search Console).
Which service this was
This was a web design and SEO and Google Maps project: the new website, the Google profile and a monthly look at the data. A website starts from 500 € (VAT excluded); SEO is quoted to fit, after a free visibility check.
What this means for your restaurant
They didn’t need to change the food or cut prices. They needed to know what people nearby search for, find what nobody is answering, and build the website and the profile to answer it better than anyone. That’s what we do for every restaurant.
